Sweetest Day Etiquette Tips

Help!  Am I supposed to celebrate Sweetest Day?
If you are not from the Midwest, chances are you probably did not even know that "Sweetest Day" existed.  While it is not a national holiday, it is still a day to honor your "sweetheart" and give a gift.  While the consequences of forgetting are not be as big as if you were to forget Valentine's Day, there still may be consequences... so, don't risk forgetting Sweetest Day!  Below you will find everything you need to know about Sweetest Day.

Who celebrates Sweetest Day and when?

Sweetest Day is traditionally a Midwest holiday that is celebrated on
the third Saturday of October.  Ahem, making it 10/18/08- THIS SATURDAY!   While this holiday is mostly celebrated by Midwest couples, it is a romantic holiday similar to Valentine's Day that can be celebrated by couples all over.

How should you celebrate & what should you give?
Since the origin of Sweetest Day dates back to the early 1800's when Cleveland candy makers gave out candy to newspaper boys, mail carriers, orphans, the elderly, and poor children, you should stick with the "sweet" theme.  Sweetest Day is a day to give a "sweet" token to your sweetheart to show her (or him) that you are thinking of them.
If your sweetheart likes chocolates, make her a personalized chocolate lollipop , if your sweetheart loves desserts send her love brownies, and if your sweetheart loves candy- opt for the sweet and sour gummy lips.

Who do you give a gift to on Sweetest Day?
Just like Valentine's Day, Sweetest Day gifts are required amongst couples and well received by family and close friends.  If you do not want to send a gift, just remember to give a card and at least to say "Happy Sweetest Day".

We hope these tips help you have a great weekend.

Happy Sweetest Day!
